Manmadha Banam Story :
Madan Gopal (Madhavan) is the son of rich multi millionaire industrialist, who loves Ambujakshi aka Nisha (Trisha), a popular heroine. He happens to visit her at a shooting spot, where she shoots with actor Surya. Madan doesn’t believe in Nisha due to her profession. He thinks that she is having affairs with her costars. Their love is broken due to misunderstandings.
However, both Ambu and Madan can’t forget each other even after many days. Madan Gopal suspects her and appoints an Ex Army major R. Bushanam (Kamal Haasan) a private detective to spy on Ambu, who is on a holiday trip to Europe along with her close friend Deepa (Sangeetha) a divorcee with two children, who wants to live in her own way.
Bushanam assures to do the task with a promise that Madan sponsors for his friend Raja (Ramesh Arvind) medical expenses, as he sufferes from cancer. Bushanam, who after following Ambu closely finds out that she is a upright and a sincere girl, who thinks of no one but Madan. When he informs this, a relieved Madan backtracks from the promise he made.
Hence Bushanam hatches a conspiracy and comes out with a story saying that she is actually dating a man. An insecure Madan now comes to Bushanam again and urges him to stay there and follow her more closely.
As it happens Bushanam and Ambu come to know each other. Bushanam reveals that he was a commando in Indian army and that he was married to a French woman, whom he rescues from militants in Jammu Kashmir.
What happens from here is the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
– Screenplay during the first half.
– Rich locations and good camerawork
– Kamal’s flashback was variety
Minus Points:
– Hardly anything for Kamal Haasan to show his real prowess in performance
– Silly comedy
– Unbearable climax, nothing but confusion
